Updated Foyer + a Rockn' Lamp

Beth over @ Chinoiserie Chic featured small foyers today which reminded me I needed to post my updated foyer as I re-staged it for summer back in May. Yeah.... not one to rush my postings..... If this is your first time seeing the foyer the chevron lantern featured is the Bargello Lantern by Dana Gibson. This petite pagoda lantern comes in additional colors & designs; see it here in grey.

My sister & I tried what seemed like a million several different vignettes in an effort to lighten up & give a more "relaxed sophistication" feel to this small space. The Hollywood Regency vibe (seen here) was great for winter but too heavy for the lazy days of summer.

Above & below were my favorite but....  the space seemed to need a lamp to throw out the maximum welcoming effect @ night. My sister also thought it appeared the Foo Dog was gunning for Pinkie, my Audubon Flamingo. Nuff said.

Clean & serene but still no lamp....

I broke up a set of vintage blanc de chine pierced lamps from my bedroom to warm the welcome. Above & below is where we landed. Cool, Calm, Collected or is it Calm, Cool, Collected???

Beth has more great ideas for small foyers over on her Pinterest Board The Small Chinoiserie Foyer.

Here is a lamp I tried at one point but never took a picture as it totally sucked  was the wrong look for the foyer. Plus it looked just perfect perched on this orange lacquer Asian table in the breezeway. I am crazy for this vintage porcelain bamboo lamp with a hand painted Dana Gibson shade.

Bounty from the Hunt

Saturdays hunt was quite rewarding. This ole gal was quite the Chinoise collector.

Love the Chinoiserie Chippendale Wall Shelf

Great collection of porcelain.
Mud Men ~ What great little characters.

 Digging the glazed Foo Dogs.

I was swooning over these Butterfly Wing Backs; so lucky to get them. Reveal to come; wait for it!

Gonna' make some magic with this Channel Back Claw Foot Chair.

Clever brass butterfly hardware on this Bachelors Chest. Alas nowhere in the casa so over to the SB booth it will go.

This little lacquer shelf is going in the SB Booth.

The thrill of the hunt is such an adrenaline rush & so rewarding when the spoils are this bountiful!

Ebay Tuesday

Ebay can be a love/hate experience...
Love... you find that perfect gem that no one is bidding on & there is no reserve.
Hate... "Pick Up Only"  and it happens to be in Grand Rapids, SD & you are in Lizard Lick, NC.
Love... when the item ships Greyhound for $13.00.
Hate... 873 people have already bid....

Love it... hate it..... alright enough of that. Love to hate Ebay & confess to go there @ least 3 x a day....
Sidebar ~ do want to say if you are watching an item plezzz don't bid til the last 15 seconds as it is dumb, dumb, dumb to drive the  bidding up 6 days in advance... work with me people.

Here are few gems worth watching & waiting til the last 15 seconds to bid on....

Lawzy I love me some Chinoise Lacquer goodness & over @ Liv Vintage  is one rockn' cool console/credenza- you decide what to call this gem.... I for one call it a little bit of heaven. Look at it.... seriously is it not the coolest? The lacquer is dripping with "come to me baby" style & the hardware.... r u kidding me, D-I-V-I-N-E.

I love Liv Vintage (for those of you old enough to remember say this in the voice of Billy Dee Williams when he played Gale Sayers & he said "I love Brian Piccolo," if you are too young to remember move on...)  They have helped me buy some groovy pieces for my soon to be new home; reveal to come later.
