Updated Foyer + a Rockn' Lamp

Beth over @ Chinoiserie Chic featured small foyers today which reminded me I needed to post my updated foyer as I re-staged it for summer back in May. Yeah.... not one to rush my postings..... If this is your first time seeing the foyer the chevron lantern featured is the Bargello Lantern by Dana Gibson. This petite pagoda lantern comes in additional colors & designs; see it here in grey.

My sister & I tried what seemed like a million several different vignettes in an effort to lighten up & give a more "relaxed sophistication" feel to this small space. The Hollywood Regency vibe (seen here) was great for winter but too heavy for the lazy days of summer.

Above & below were my favorite but....  the space seemed to need a lamp to throw out the maximum welcoming effect @ night. My sister also thought it appeared the Foo Dog was gunning for Pinkie, my Audubon Flamingo. Nuff said.

Clean & serene but still no lamp....

I broke up a set of vintage blanc de chine pierced lamps from my bedroom to warm the welcome. Above & below is where we landed. Cool, Calm, Collected or is it Calm, Cool, Collected???

Beth has more great ideas for small foyers over on her Pinterest Board The Small Chinoiserie Foyer.

Here is a lamp I tried at one point but never took a picture as it totally sucked  was the wrong look for the foyer. Plus it looked just perfect perched on this orange lacquer Asian table in the breezeway. I am crazy for this vintage porcelain bamboo lamp with a hand painted Dana Gibson shade.

Everything's Coming Up Roses

China Rose @ Chinoiserie Chic

Last week Beth @ Chinoiserie Chic did a fab post on Chinoiserie Favorites which included Scalamandre's China Rose. Be still my heart; it makes me swoon! I am particularity taken with the lime green, pink & orange. I am anxiously awaiting my curtain panels in the same for my living room.

Scalamandre's China Rose Lime

Ebay FellaBird

Wanted to let you in on a steal deal! I bought some small cuts of China Rose previously from FellaBird on ebay. I had been watching a piece for frigging eva' of 24 meters & def didn't need that much. She is now offering by the meter @ the crazy price of approx 29 GBP that's about $44.00 a yard. She is a Brit so the rate fluctuates but not much so run, go buy it now! She is lovely to work with; prompt & courteous. Important when dealing on-line. She also has other pretty pieces.
Don't you just love a bargain?!?

Ahead of the Curve

Beth over @ Chinoiserie Chic is predicting Flamingo art is trending into the fast lane. So excited! For me they have always had a sweet spot. See her post here ~ she has some killer inspiration.  Audubon Flamingo reproduction above is from Allposters; Beth posted on it here more than a year ago. Such a WOW welcome & receives lots of oohs & awes. Plus it makes me happy, happy, happy every time I walk through the door. Dana Gibson Bargello Pagoda Lantern & front door colors were coordinated to work with the print. Dragon rug; bought on eBay years ago, dragons help ward off evil so you def need them near your entrance way.

In my Mistress Bath which is not quite ready for her closeup I used Cole & Sons Flamingo wallpaper that comes in a collection of divine colors. I ordered several swatches to think on, the charcoal & turquoise was too dark for this room but is gorgeous! Here is a little tease of the Bath.

Love my little flamingo trinket box below.

Vintage print below was found @ a roadside flea haunt & seems to work right along with the wallpaper.

Here are more of the wallpaper colors; Cole and Sons of London.

Beth has some great Pinterest Boards on these magical feathery creatures. Check them out here.

Enjoy!

Better Late Then Never After & A Kick Ass Coffee Table Book or Two....

In searching for the post on Chinoiserie Chic that brought me to my adorable Pagoda Chair I just realized I had been harboring her for almost 2 years..... She is now making her debut & is just about the cutest chair I have ever seen! I took Beth's lead & ordered her from Liv Vintage; she arrived via Greyhound & spent quite awhile in storage. I choose a similar fabric to what Beth had for the vision, had her refinished which began the transformation of what was a dirty, dingy naughahyde ~ I know right.... yikes. The new fabric is a stinker to shoot so bare with me as the sheen made it really tough.... Showing a couple of different angles in hopes you get the beauty of her now. Not sure if Liv Vintage is still around which is a darn shame.

I have gotten endless inspiration from Beth @ Chinoiserie Chic.....Her blog rocks the hemisphere & if you aren't a follower well you better get over there now & catch up!  Note, I obviously did not take Mary McDonald's advice where she says just use one Chinoiserie item per room......

Miles Redd Review
To know Frances Schultz is like playing Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon! Honestly she is so connected not just at the Piggly Wiggly in Tarboro but globally. And since I relish her blog I sometimes begin to pretend I know all the celebs she knows. Miles Redd is one of her buddies; could you just die??? Her recent post on the book (his book silly) had me imagining I was actually at the book signing & he says "Where have I heard your name??? Why I believe Frances Schultz was just raving about your new crib @ a party @ Tinsley Mortimers' last week...." A girl can dream..... Go read her review of the book & go buy it. I am busy imagining he will feature me in his next expose & invite me to a dinner party in his bathroom!

Carolyn Roehm
As for Frances, you just gotta go follow her blog..... She also knows Carolyn Roehm.....  And why yes I am a shameless name dropper.....
Later Gators!
